Who designed the American Flag?

He spent his childhood in Lancaster, Ohio, where he created the American flag as a school project. The original American Flag was designed by Francis Hopkinson of New Jersey, a naval flag designer, and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The current design of the U.S. flag is its 27th; the design of the flag has been modified officially 26 times since 1777.

What does the American Flag Symbolize (stand for) and what do the designs mean?
The American Flag stands for liberty, justice, and humanity. The 50 stars represent the current 50 states and 13 stripes represent the original 13 British colonies. If there is another flag on the same pole with the American flag, it must fly beneath it and the American flag must be the larger flag. If you have separate flag poles, the American flag must be flown on the right of other flags.
What should I do with my flag when it is old and ready to be retired?
When your flag is no longer in the condition that it is a fitting emblem for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning. You can contact your local VFW Chapter and ask them for help to properly dispose your flag. Or you can contact your local Elks Lodge, the American Legion, or the Knights of Columbus. Some Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops also provide this service.

Here’s the thing: it’s a Nylon flag. Ideally, this will last, but if your house is facing the sun for 70% of the day like mines does, it’s going to get sun bleached guaranteed.
However, what I’ve come to appreciate is how durable they are. These flags have lasted through windy thunderstorms and all through the elements for years without tear. The company itself makes a polyester and cotton variant of the flag, so I wonder if it’s worth trying one of those out as well.

I tried a number of different flag companies over the past years and have ordered my last 6 from Star Spangled Flags. (I always keep 1-2 on hand for someone who needs a good flag on short notice.) The Illinois prairie weather can destroy a flag in short order, but my last 3'X5' Star Spangled Flags lasted a week over 11 months - a new record. (The 4 sewn rows on the fly edge are important.)
You can find em cheaper and more expensive, but when it comes to appearance and longevity for the price, I'm sticking with Star Spangled Flags.
